Based on the Memorandum of Understanding signed with Japan National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Resilience (NIED), NCDR conducts regular exchange visits with NIED. This year (2024), the annual workshop was held in Japan, with a delegation led by Director Hongey Chen.

As part of the visit, NIED arranged for the NCDR delegation to conduct an on-site survey of the recovery progress in the Noto Peninsula following the January earthquake. Both sides also engaged in discussions on earthquake risk assessment, disaster recovery, and other critical research topics relevant to both Taiwan and Japan.
